FPGA-Based WBG Power Conversion Platform
Configurable modulation and deterministic timing for experimental GaN/SiC conversion.
This master’s research project develops a reusable FPGA-based modulation and control platform on a Digilent Basys 3 (Xilinx Artix-7). It generates four synchronized gate-control signals with configurable PWM parameters, programmable timing, and dead-time insertion.
An AXI4-Lite register architecture and UART-based host interface support parameter changes without recompiling the FPGA logic. The platform has been evaluated through buck-converter experiments using existing GaN/SiC power-conversion hardware at approximately 100–500 kHz.
Current work extends the system toward SPWM and inverter control. Closed-loop control and operation approaching 1 MHz remain development goals subject to hardware constraints and experimental validation.
