Power Electronics Laboratory

I am developing a versatile FPGA-based modulation and control platform for high-frequency wide-bandgap power converters. The platform provides configurable multi-channel switching signals, programmable timing, and dead-time control, and has been experimentally evaluated using GaN/SiC power-conversion hardware.

My work combines digital control, semiconductor switching, converter experiments, measurement, and data analysis. Current development is extending the platform from configurable PWM toward SPWM, inverter operation, expanded modulation capability, and eventual closed-loop control.

Current research

The experimental work builds on an existing hybrid GaN-SiC switching platform. My contribution centers on FPGA-based modulation, configurable PWM and gate timing, multiple synchronized outputs, dead-time control, host configuration, converter operation, and experimental characterization. I earned a B.Sc. (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from NSBM Green University in Sri Lanka. I am now pursuing a two-year master’s degree at Kyoto University of Advanced Science under Prof. Alberto Castellazzi, with expected completion in 2027.
